the coming together of things

i love evenings like this. m has been back in town for a little bit, and i’ve crawled out of my semi-hibernation mode to re-explore singapore with uncomplicated company. we spoke before about how sometimes it’s just this way with someone, what makes that person the girlfriend who you can call to do anything with- listen to live jazz, get a drink, sit with, read with, be quiet with- and for it to be all done in the same rhythm. tonight, sitting in a five foot way with live acoustic music in front of us, a scent in the air, candlelight on the table and a breeze blowing, i thought: god, how much i’ve missed this.

on that neighbourhoody feel

i’m a creature of habit, and i’m always reminded of this when i show up somewhere and everyone there gives that knowing smile of ‘oh-weren’t-you-just-here-two-days-ago’? still, it’s a sweet feeling. makes the world seem a little smaller and less distant. lots of friendly faces in random places: orgo, night and day, lagnaa, metropole!
